Ocean Park

After spending the earlier part of the morning at Stanley and getting a glimpse of Repulse Bay, we headed over to Ocean Park, the famed recreation park in Hong Kong which was endlessly mentioned in the movies whenever it comes to leisure.

Arriving there on good time and while waiting for the queue to purchase the entrance tickets (yes, there’s lots of people there!), I took the opportunity to snap photos of the sea; it was pretty cloudy that day.

The entrance of Ocean Park was crowded with local and also foreign tourists; brimming the gates and waiting for their turn to enter as soon as they obtained their tickets.

Upon entering, you should see this pond of flamingoes where the thin-legged creatures stood, flanked in colours of pink and peachemoticon

You should be able to spot a Panda House somewhere nearby as well; it will not be hard to miss with the bamboos and also lamp posts guiding you

I find this place just like our Sunway Lagoon with a flavour of Sentosa Island added to it; as it was basically a recreational theme park with lots of fun rides and games stalls and at the same time, they also offer a glimpse of the wildlife and also the aqua marine come to life on the stage, offering an amazing live performance to charm the crowd.

I was especially enticed by the seals; which were more outstanding in their performance as they truly filled crowd with laughter with their anticsemoticon

Dolphins have never failed my expectations with their intelligence although I must say the seals actually surpassed in their performance over here in Ocean Park.

There were also sharks and jellyfish for your viewing pleasure. On a personal note, sometimes I really pity these animals (in general) for losing their freedom; a wild and bornfree life in exchange for a cooped up life and to endure the stares from weird creatures which cannot be reached from their world. It’d be so frustrating and I’d really hate that!!

This is an unique dessert found here; rather a big portion in a large cone

Anyway, don’t forget to take a ride to the other side of the Park via the cable car; one that you should not miss. There will be a long queue but not such a long wait as there were a lot of cable cars all the way and I am serious, they really look like a whole galaxy with the brightly coloured balls hanging in the sky!

The great big pandas reside over here; with four of them from the dangerously on the verge of extinction species. They were again cooped in their own space but available for visitors to peek a glance at them.

It was a pity looking at them; and I couldn’t help feeling sad. Some of the pandas refused to exit their incubator rooms to their exhibit area due to the noise dispersed from the large crowd; I guess it really scared them off.Poor Pandas…my heart went out to them; especially the last 2; Lele and AnAnemoticon

There were other rides available over on this side of the horizon; whereby you can try out the hot air balloon (long queue), the kiddies’ world and also go-kart for racing enthusiasts.

We ended our tour to Ocean Park with the Bird Show; which was not exactly up to our expectations due to the bad weather and the birds refused to cooperate with the trainer; leaving the trainer standing in the rain and looking so forlornemoticon

It was an enjoyable trip although I do not see anything amazing compared to other theme parks I have gone to; but I do agree that this is a great place for a fun outing with family and friendsemoticon
