Shabu shabu in Daejeon

Filed under: Asia, Business Travel, Korea

After the business conference and presentations during the day, we set off with the suppliers who wanted to treat us to dinner at the Daejeon city. For your information, the supplier’s site was located far away from the Seoul city; about 2 and a half hours ride by car (they sent their company car to pick us up in the morning and send us back after work). Due to that reason, our senior colleague actually arranged that we spend one night in Daejeon since we still need to attend meetings at the site the following day and then we will move back to Seoul; Hilton emoticon

Everyone obliged and boy were we glad we did, when we experienced the long ride all the way to Daejeon; located on the mountain side and outskirts of Korea. It felt like going up to Cameron Highlands…emoticon

After work, we headed back to our hotel to check in; this round, we stayed at a 4-star hotel; Hotel Spapia in Daejeon; slightly smaller than Hilton of course; and I don’t really have any pics taken….i forgot about itemoticon Too tired after work and also after the long dinner; only got back at about 10pm.

After checking in and placing our luggages in our rooms, we headed back to the entrance of the hotel and boarded the same MPV from the supplier and was driven to the place where we were to have dinner. They suggested Shabu shabu (which ironically, I thought was a Japanese thingy…haha, guess there was too much influence in the culture alreadyemoticon)

Nothing special; to me, it’s just a steamboat dinner (don’t get me wrong, I am not blaming suppliers that the dinner is ordinary, I was commenting on the style of the cuisine). I was very grateful that these people went all the way out to entertain us after a long day’s work and furthermore, they had to fight the jam to get here.

Then they will scoop and serve you in their own designated portions.

Funny lady, during the first 2 servings of vege and seafood, she struggled through it and mentioned that she is a carnivore; she needs meat to survive and she can never take vegetables and seafood alone…haha, my total opposite huhemoticon

Dinner was adjourned at about 9.30p.m. and we took a short walk back to our hotel….

Some night pics taken from the Internet of the hotel
